Investigations need to be made in the production possibilities of a product. There are always different ways of making a product, each having its own pro’s and cons. There are a number of tools that can be used for this: technology scenarios, process flow en de morphological map are comparable ways of doing this.

If all the different options are know its time for an evaluation without testing these. Try to separate as many steps as possible, but keep in mind that the output of one process is the input of the other.

The first evaluation is done by means of “feeling”. If all scenarios would be tested the project take at least twice as long. First evaluate the top two to three scenarios and see if the results are satisfactorily. A good and easy way to do this is to make a Multi criteria table. Enter all found scenarios in the table and evaluate them on different criteria. One criteria is however more important than the other, this is why a weight is assigned toe ach criteria. At each criteria points from 0-10 are given toe ach scenario. These are multiplied by the assigned weight. The total of each scenario obtained and you can see which has the most chance of success.
