Design of Experiments is used to determine the effects of different parameters. This can be done in two steps. First determine which parameters have at all have an influence. This can be done with relatively a large number of parameters. In order to get more into detail a second step has to be made to see how big the effects are of these parameters.

When to use

A Design of Experiments is mainly used in the α- and β-phase when there is looked more in detail to processes.   

The DoE is used:

• to see which parameters have influence (α-phase)
• to see how much influence these parameters have (β-phase)
• to get answers on deviations in the process (β-phase)

By creating a high and low situation of different parameters and measuring the response a good view can be created about the influences of these parameters on the output.
